DALLAS, Dec 14, 2008 / FW/ — To fashion shows habitués, the background music is as important as the collection being unveiled in terms of showmanship. Because, let’s put it this way, the catwalk is not just about the clothes. It is a story being told via clothes where there is a beginning, a climax and a dénouement. Music plays a big part on the storytelling.

Houston-native and New York-based Catherine Wentworth, professionally known in the music business as DJ Cat is one of the behind-the-scenes personas at the Rebecca Taylor fashion shows wherein she had mixed the music for the designer’s catwalk presentations.

Also known among the club crowd, DJ Cat had been seen rockin’ East Village bars, Vanity Fair soirées, posh Ian Schrager lounges, and exclusive private parties for New York celebrities like, Robert De Niro.

“Classic rock, Electro House, 80s, POP, Breaks, and Techno, I want to make a crowd dance; a lot!” Her mission seems accomplished, as her gigs in Miami, LA, South America, Germany, Greece and Amsterdam have people partying well past 5 AM.

But Cat’s already wandered into her next musical endeavor — producing. She won’t say much about it now, but with this girl’s record, one thing’s for sure, and that’s a hit.
