NEW YORK, Jan 27, 2009 / FW/ — For the past six years, the Red Dress has become the symbol for women and heart disease awareness. On Friday, February 13, the Red Dress Collection returns at New York’s Bryant Park for its sixth annual Red Dress Collection fashion show to jumpstart the yearlong campaign for heart disease awareness.

Twenty designers and 20 of today’s hottest celebrities join forces on the runway to underscore the importance of reducing the risk of heart disease. According to statistics, one in four American women still dies of heart disease, and one-third of women still underestimate their own personal risk of heart disease.

To send its message to more women, the Heart Truth organization is partnering with Clothes Off Our Back. After the fashion show on February 13, a selection of red designer dresses worn by celebrities in The Heart Truth’s Red Dress Collection Fashion Shows will be auctioned at www.clothesoffourback.org.

A selection of the dresses up for auction will be on display at Rockefeller Center’s Top of the Rock Observation Deck from February 14 through February 21. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health and will be used to further efforts related to women’s heart health awareness and research.
