American Perez Fall 2009
American Perez Fall 2009

MADRID, Feb 24, 2009 / FW/ — A very timely collection especially that it coincides with the highly anticipated release of ‘Watchmen’ the movie; American Perez must be a big fan of comic books because the whole collection is all about super heroines.

In general, people around the world believe that ‘thinking American’ is easy. After all, the U.S. is a very young country and the past 200 years, pop culture dominated. American Perez touched on the accepted American icons, from the cowboy to comic books.

Cute as it is and quite frankly, American Perez’s heart is in the right place. But, the designer missed the ruggedness and raw edge, the mystic that made the American cowboy and comic book heroes romantic.

I’m not saying American Perez missed the mark. The designer actually proposed a good collection. Like what I said, American Perez gave everything to it. But, it was too soft and too girly to be truly exciting to the digital generation, which is the target of this collection.
