BARCELONA, Apr 5, 2009 / FW/ — Drawing on her South American heritage, Andrea Llosa entitled her collection 2012, basing it on one of the seven Mayan prophecies which says that 2012 will mark the end of human civilization as we know it.
The same prophecy also foretold that human beings will enter a new civilization, which bears no relation to the present one. 2012 is going to be the start of a new cycle, which will mark the end of the world of materialism and destruction in which we live and the beginning of a new era of respect and harmony.
When this happens, the Mayan warriors will be watchful; and in their honor, Andrea Llosa sent a collection based on the costume of these warriors – from the metallic armor to their traveling garb wherein Llosa cleverly transformed into modern day attires.
Leather trousers that can work as leggings, sweater dresses and coats that do double duty as tops, Llosa’s witty silhouettes might have been based on the past but they have an aura of the future.
