Blaak Menswear Spring 2010

PARIS, Jun 26, 2009 / FW/ — Fashion makes strange bedfellows and it is only in fashion wherein spiritualism and voodooism can co-exist and make sense.

London-based design duo Sachiko Okada and Aaron Sharif, for their Spring 2010 collection for Blaak explored the power of Hindu spiritualism and the mystery of voodoo and thus gave rise to a Shamaan dandy and a Sikh gentleman.

Jabot shirts in silk, hand painted jeans and jackets, sculpted leather pants, and neoprene shorts, Blaak’s alternative view of fashion is engaging. It’s about personal identity!

And, in this age of Gravatar, Twitter, Facebook and MySpace, though there are a lot of opportunities for us to be comfortable of who we are, we hide behind the virtual walls that we erect in cyberspace.

For Sachiko Okada and Aaron Sharif, that’s where the spirituality comes in, as if trying to exorcise self doubt with voodoo.
