NEW YORK, Sep 9, 2009 / FW/ — Designer Estrella Archs has been named Chief Designer of the House of Ungaro while Lindsay Lohan will also be joining the French maison in a newly created position of Artistic Advisor.
Explaining the decision as to why there will be two creative heads at the helm, which is also a first for the brand, Mounir Moufarrige, President of Emanuel Ungaro worldwide said, “21st century muses are extroverts whose personal style and experience gives them a strong creative and artistic focus. Thus was our vision of combining the eye of a fashion creator (Estreall Archs) with the eye of the ultimate luxury consumer, a celebrity (Lindsay Lohan).”
Rising to fame at age 11 when she starred in the Disney’s remake of “The Parent Trap,” Lindsay Lohan has had a varied career since then, experiencing the ups and down of celebrity at a young age. Today, she is more known for what is written on the tabloids than her film roles that includes “Freaky Friday”, “Mean Girls,” and “Herbie: Fully Loaded.”
Seemingly explaining the choice of Lohan as an Artistic Advisor for Ungaro, Mr. Mouffarige said, “Mr. Ungaro’s success was based on his genius for design and his controversial eye to whom his consumer was. Lindsay is a world consumer with a clear eye for fashion.”
A graduate of Central Saint Martins, Estrella Archs has been showing in Paris under her own label. According to Mr. Mouffarige, Estrella Archs who is a Nina Ricci and Emilio Pucci under the artistic direction of Christian Lacroix, caught his eye because of “her high talent, fashion experience and design sophistication.”
“Estrella’s interpretation of the Ungaro woman clearly reflects the brand’s DNA,” comments Mouffarige.
Archs and Lohan will work together using their combined talent, instincts and intuition to define and promote the Ungaro brand, thus replacing the established mold of designer-only led fashion with a new vision of designer and consumer-led fashion.
Both Ms. Archs and Ms. Lohan have been collaborating on the Spring/Summer 2010 runway collection unveiling on October 4, 2009 during Paris Fashion Week.
