G-STARNEW YORK, Sep 18, 2009 / FW/ — With a glittering front row that consisted of Juliette Lewis, Lindsay Lohan, Taylor Momsen, Ryan Kwanten, Jared Leto, Elettra Wiedemann, Mena Suvari, Alan Cumming, Kara DioGuardi, Christian Siriano, Cat Deeley, Kat von D, Katrina Bowden, Ryan Adams, Corbin Bleu, Frederique van der Wal, Matthew Settle, Damien Fahey, Eric Balfour, Peaches Geldof, Asher Books, Walter Perez, Miss J. Alexander, Byrdie Bell, Yfke Sturm and Tyson Beckford, innovative denim brand G-Star unveiled its NY RAW Spring/Summer 2010 Collection at the Hammerstein Ballroom tonight, presenting the brand’s luxury to street aesthetic.

The G-Star atelier demonstrated their signature denim craftsmanship with architectural techniques for pants and sophisticated tailoring for jackets and tops thus creating entirely new silhouettes. Washes encompassed the complete life-cycle of denim, from the darkest raw through bright blues and bleached to non-dyed ecru.

The combination of denim with breezily light materials in blues, whites and custom prints showed the unmatched adaptability of G-Star’s core fabric and gave the collection a cool, high-summer feel.

G-Star re-imagined vintage Mediterranean ‘high society’ couture to create a wardrobe with modern classics that exude Raw elegance and can effortlessly carry from day into the evening. For women the brand presented a feminine yet powerful and self assured look with elegant dresses, luxury beachwear such as high-waisted bathing suits and hotpants.

Key pieces for men were the cropped chino’s and modern classic broad shouldered jackets. The extremely low loose NY Raw Structor Pant that was the base of many looks, male and female, is the latest addition to the ongoing line of 3-D jeans silhouettes that started in 1996 with the G-Star Elwood.

Paper pattern garments created with ‘moulage’ techniques were another example of the denim craftsmanship G-Star is known for.

The G-Star show played with silhouettes of models that emerged from five moving cylinders. An intense mix of music allowed the models to walk at a pace that provided guests the opportunity to truly take in the innovative craftsmanship of the NY Raw Collection. A remix of the David Bowie song ‘Rebel Rebel’ accompanied a choreographed finale in true G-Star style.

G-Star hosted an intimate dinner after the show and a happening after party at the Terrace at the Bowery hotel.
