DALLAS, Mar 20, 2010 / FW/ — With the new season of Caprica winding down (season finale is next Friday) and the new season of Stargate Universe being advertised already on the SyFy channel, thoughts gave way to the Moncler Gamme Rouge Fall 2010 installation last March 9th in Paris.
It goes without saying that the proposed looks are just impeccable. White wool / cashmere leggings complete the look of the quilted squares miniskirt and quilted squares blouson jacket, even with the quilted square cape.
And then, for après ski, there is the black cocktail dress with ostrich feather skirt and black argyles in tone-on-tone black beading. This look was recreated into skiwear by making the bodice cable knit while the skirt was ruche knit.
Yet, the fashion is only half of the story. The other half is told best by the press notes, “Beams of light and sparkling dust suspend all references to space and time, projecting whoever sets eyes on them into a new dimension.”
A seeming look into the near future when trips to space will be commonplace, Moncler Gamme Rouge made into reality what we just see on television. True, up close and personal, the magic of Hollywood is revealed, making it reachable, even aspirational in the sense that we want to literally reach for the stars.
But, isn’t it the reason for fashion show, for the clothes and the collections to be aspirational? In more ways than one, Moncler Gamme Rouge succeeded. After all, fashion is about dreaming for six months until our dreams turn into reality.
