MILAN, Mar 3, 2011/ —  A mass of people gathered in Milan for the Fall collection by Missoni.  The pastel colored, ethereal collection was definitely a change for the brand, and also something different compared to the rest this season.

The dreamy, languid, and enchanting fabrics evoked a fairytale image, and the menswear inspired cuts and volumes have the collection some grounding.  The tension between candy sweet colors and patchwork biker boots, embroidered flowers and raw cut, textured fabrics created great contrast in the collection.

Pastel watercolors, pink elephants, gigantic bouquets of embroidery all blended with the iconic Missoni knitwear.  The deconstructed jackets and coats, cardigans and trousers in maxi lengths, hung away from the body, and serve to bring us back to the present, modern time.

Fluid silk velvet and featherweight crepon maxi skirts and dresses mixed effortlessly with cozy men’s pullovers and reversible jackets.  Missoni created a world this season where python coats were plentiful, lace and feathers the norm, and knits that trick the eye into seeing jewels.

Whatever the magical world from which Missoni drew its inspiration this season, the enchanting colors and feathery layers created a dreamy collection, but it was still based in the cozy and chic knitwear everyone loves from this design house.
