LONDON, Apr 24, 2012/ — Finding the perfect bra is like looking for the Holy Grail. Though the modern bra was not invented until the 19th century, historical records show that in the 14th century BC, during the Minoan civilization, brassiere-like garments were already being used by women.
Yet, even after 3,500 years, women are still looking for the perfect bra. So, is finding the perfect bra possible?
Before we can answer that, we have to get the proper measurements for your correct bra size. And for that, you will need a soft measuring tape (the same one used by a seamstress) and the help of a friend.
You will take TWO measurements, the first one being the BAND SIZE. To do this, wrap the measuring tape around your upper back, under your armpits and across your chest ABOVE your breasts. Hold the measuring tape parallel to the ground as much as possible.
If the resulting measurement is an odd number, add one inch, thus making it an even number. Example – a 35-inches measurement should be rounded up to 36 inches.
The second measurement is your BUSTLINE. Wrap the measuring tape around your back and over the largest part of your breasts, keeping the tape level with the ground as you do so. You do not need to make this an even number. Example, if you measure 37 inches, it stays as 37 inches.
Now, the fun part! SUBTRACT your first measurement (BAND SIZE) from your second measurement (BUSTLINE). For every inch difference, you will go up one cup size.
As in our example, with the BUSTLINE at 37 inches less the BAND SIZE of 36, inches, the cup size is A. If the difference was 2 inches, then it’s a B cup, and so on.
Now, that we have the proper measurement, it’s time to look for the perfect bra! So, can we find the perfect bra? With so many styles available, it is really hard to choose.
