Nanette Lepore FW13: Landing on Mars
NEW YORK, Feb. 17, 2013/ FW/ — Entitled ‘Landing on Mars’, for the Nanette Lepore Fall 2013 collection, the designer drew inspiration from all of the excitement surrounding the landing on Mars.
Fashion Windows catches up with the designer, Nanette Lepore to discuss her Fall 2013 collection and her radiant hologram-effect and glistening nature-inspired ensembles evoking Lepore’s inspiration of the landing on Mars.
Fashion Windows: What inspired you for your Fall 2013 collection theme?
Nanette Lepore: For my Fall 2013 collection theme of the landing on Mars, I took inspiration from a section of Earth, and starting designing my collection with a granite-print texture, then re-arranged to a watery garden print, then I took inspiration from a midnight garden to create modern, futuristic silhouettes. These Fall season looks are familiar to one another and therefore, create an emotional tie, but this season’s looks are also new and diverse in light and color.
FW: What fabrics and colors did you use for the collection?
NL: As for textures, we introduced a lot of new fabrics and surface textures this season, including a new rubbery-coated plastic fabric, and for the first time we featured a new quilted texture.
Hues for the Fall collection included black, deep olive, midnight violet, and turquoise, as well as the collection included hologram hues of orange and blue that glistened against the collection’s textured pieces.
FS: What is your favorite look in your Fall collection?
NL: I am really excited for the coats in my collection, particularly a gorgeous swing coat.
I also am excited about our sexy dresses and new suit looks with elongated jackets.
FS: Anything else to add regarding your Fall 2013 collection?
NL: I have to add lastly that what is so great about this collection is that this season’s looks can transcend from day to night, so women have the best of both worlds wearing Nanette Lepore ensembles.
Also, designer, Nanette Lepore recently re-launched the Nanette Lepore Fall 2013 shoes and handbags line, so the Fall 2013 collection includes chic shoes and accessories including booties, belts, handbags, and camera bags in hues of black, olive, as well as accessories came in hologram hues of orange and turquoise.
