PARIS, Mar 2, 2005/ FW/ — Last week in Milan, there was a rumour going around that Riccardo Tisci will be appointed Creative Director at Givenchy. It’s no longer a rumour! It’s now a fact.
Yesterday, the venerable Paris fashion house sent out a communiqué de presse saying that the Italian designer has accepted the position and he will be showing his first collection during the haute couture season in July.
“We’re all excited,” said Stéphanie Gicquel, the new Press and Public Relations Manager at Givenchy for Haute Couture and Women’s Ready-to-Wear, during the Givenchy presentation today at the House’s showroom.
And she’s right to be very excited. In fact, the whole fashion world should be excited. Riccardo Tisci, one of the new talents that have emerged in Milan might be a new name on the roster, but he had made his mark showing only two collections!
Last Friday, with mixed snow and rain in Milan, all the top editors were at his presentation, standing in the cold, warming themselves with warm apple vodka cocktails before the show started.
Top models Erin O’Connor and Jacquetta Wheeler graced his show, although it was only a presentation, another sure sign that the young designer was going places.
And Tisci did not disappoint his audience. Everyone might be cold in the beginning, but Tisci packed a lot of heat with his artistic and creative ability that enhanced the art of fashion!
With Riccardo Tisci at the helm of the womenswear side, and award-winning Ozwald Boateng at the menswear side, Givenchy has now a winning team that can match the successful pairing of John Galliano & Hedi Slimane at Christian Dior.
No matter how you look at it, LVMH has a winning hand. As they say in poker, it’s a full house!
