Alma Aguilar Spring 2009
Alma Aguilar Spring 2009

MADRID, Sep 28, 2008 / FW/ — Bohemian and dreamy, with a somewhat surrealist air; obviously romantic, feminine, naive and very chic – that is what Alma’s collection is like.

Aguilar transports you to a serene yet colorful, fresh and modern world in an intelligent and personal way. Always for an authentic woman, Aguilar proposes timeless silhouettes with white as the base color embellished with sailor brush strokes such as stripes or handmade patches embroidered with gold and silk thread.

Born in Madrid in January 1976, Alma Aguilar was surrounded by music and art courtesy of her father who is a jazz musician and her mother who is a painter. In May 1998, at the age of 23, she created her own firm called Alma Aguilar, and her first 1999 Spring-Summer Prêt-à-Porter Collection was produced in her small workshop in Madrid in September.

On 17 April 1999, in the Jorge Juan cul-de-sac in Madrid, she inaugurated the first Alma Aguilar boutique, a very special space to where she moved her showroom and her studio. In November of the same year, she inaugurated her couture bridal workshop.

In 2000, the actress Salma Hayek presented the Technical Oscars ceremony in Los Angeles, wearing an Alma Aguilar outfit.

In September 2001, at the age of 25, she took part in Pasarela Cibeles-Madrid Fashion Week for the first time, with her seventh collection. She was the youngest designer to have ever showed a collection.

In February 2004, she showed in New York at Bryant Park, and in September of that same year, she became a member of the Association of Fashion Creators of Spain (ACME).

Since the beginning of her 10-year career to date, Alma Aguilar has shown 20 collections mainly at Pasarela Cibeles-Madrid Fashion Week, but also in Barcelona and Moscow.

This, coupled with an own-style, coherent track record and exquisite, demanding work, of recognized quality, position Alma Aguilar as one of the Spanish designers with the best international profile and with the greatest possibilities for growth and business development.
