MILAN, Sep 3, 2008 / FW/ — Milan native Gabriele Colangelo officially launched his eponymous label last February 2008 with a capsule collection in which he combined his natural preference for fur with exquisite embroidery. He is back for the Spring 2009 season, this time, officially debuting on the Milan catwalk.
The 2008 winner of the prestigious ‘Who is On Next?’ competition which is organized by AltaRoma and Vogue Italia, Gabriele Colangelo’s presence at Milano Moda Donna is another milestone to his constantly rising career.
Born in Milan on 27 February 1975, Gabriele Colangelo can rightly be considered to have followed in the family tradition. His family has for generations owned an atelier that specialized in fur apparel that distinguishes itself for its fine tailoring and a profound, passionate craft approach.
After obtaining his school-leaving certificate focused on the Classics and while following a university course in classical literature, he decided to enter a competition held by the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, and won a fashion grant.
After his graduation, he worked with Ittierre S.p.a. for four years, designing the Versace Jeans for Women range. This was followed by collaborative efforts with Versace; with Roberto Cavalli for Just Cavalli for Women; and with Mariella Burani Fashion Group, for which he is currently the art director for the Amuleti J range.
Already well-known in the international level, the Gabriele Colangelo is available in Paris at NoSeason. Cop, a showroom for young talents.
