NEW YORK, Sep 15, 2008 / FW/ — Opening its first location in Japan, in Tokyo’s prestigious Ginza district last September 13, 2008, H&M welcomed 5000 shoppers who lined up hours before the 11:00 AM opening of the store.

With H&M CEO Rolf Eriksen and H&M’s country manager in Japan Christine Edman cutting the ceremonial ribbon, the 1000 square meter H&M Ginza officially opened to the public.

“It has been H&M’s dream to open in Japan. I am therefore very proud to say that we now have our first store in Tokyo. Japan is a strategic and exciting market with great fashion awareness. We hope that we can offer our Tokyo customers added value through fashion and quality at the best price”, says Rolf Eriksen, CEO H&M.

Spread over four floors – from basement to 3rd floor, exhibiting Womens, Mens, and Accessories, H&M Ginza reflect the elegance of its location. Each floor fully utilizes the walls, creating a spacious impression by contrasting lights and solidity.

A gala reception for the store was held last September 11. Attended by Tokyo’s who’s who in the entertainment and fashion industries, the guests dressed up in H&M.
