Sita Murt Spring 2009

MADRID, Jan 11, 2009 / FW/ — Travel, the inspiration of man designers and Sita Murt had followed where many had gone before by taking the globetrotting woman center stage. Sita Murt chose a true sophisticated traveler with the 1970s spirit where modernity and tradition are interwoven in her personality.

Transparent and multiple layers of materials in very vivid shades of turquoise, citrus yellow and ultra pink, Sita Murt created a strong determined silhouettes that are dramatic. Technical fabrics, wax-coated linens and sophisticated cottons are proposed in neutral hues of storm blue, pearl asphalt and white.

The volumes suggest a summer breeze with wide tucks covering the body; draped elements and pleats stand out.

A native of Igualada (Barcelona), Sita Murt was literally born into fashion; her family is in the textile business. Following a natural flow of things, she studied at the Textile Design College of Sarria. Under the guidance of Ramón Folch, Sita Murt’s career as a designer was shaped with her ongoing involvement in the market, experiencing the needs of the street and knowing how to interpret them perfectly.

Aside from participating at Cibeles Madrid Fashion Week, Sita Murt had presented her collections at
Bread&Butter in Barcelona, Who’s Next in Paris, Pure in London, A-Fair in Antwerp, Modefabriek in Amsterdam, Fashion Première in Salzburg and Fashion Coterie in New York.

With 10 free standing stores to sell her collections, there are also 1,300 locations in Spain and abroad that carries the Sita Murt label. Forty per cent of Sita Murt’s garments are commercialized outside Spanish territory. Thanks to this export effort, in 2002, the company received the Príncipe de Asturias Award for Export Merit.

She is currently dedicating heart and soul to her great passion; researching knitwear goods and ready-to-wear clothing and producing, season after season, total look collections which amaze both her faithful buyers and the specialized press in the sector.
