LOS ANGELES, Apr 29, 2009 / FW/ — With a name Punk Funk, accessories designer Maria Argyropoulos has another hit on her hand. Described by the designer as a “racy and sassy,” the M. Andonia Punk Funk is made entirely of plaid woven in Italy with a dash of pink paint and patent leather trim.
Affordably priced, Punk Funk starts at $79 for the wristlet, $196 for the clutch and the purse retails at $240.
Launched in 2000 and relatively new in the marketplace, the m.andonia’s distinctive collection of handbags, totes, cosmetics cases and evening bags had been spotted being worn by Hollywood’s A-list. Superstars such as Halle Berry, Jennifer Aniston, Drew Barrymore, Uma Thurman, Kate Beckinsale, Faith Hill and Queen Latifah have all been seen carrying m.andonia bags.
Designer Maria Argyropoulos does not leave anything to chance when creating each collection. Drawing inspiration from all over the world, Argyropoulos scours fabric mills in Europe and vintage stores in the U.S. to find just the right material.
A graphic design graduate from California State University, Maria honed her design talents at the renowned Studio Art Centers International in Florence, Italy.
