Melissa Sweet Spring 2010

NEW YORK, Apr 9, 2009 / FW/ — According to the Priscilla of Boston website, at the end of 2008, Melissa Sweet left the Priscilla of Boston family to pursue personal interests. Assuming the helm of the Melissa Sweet collection are long time assistants to Sweet, Antonio Gual & Lia Mcnairy, who both have been integral contributors to the growth of the collection since its acquisition by the Priscilla of Boston bridal group.

For the design duo’s debut collection for Melissa Sweet, Antonio Gual and Lia Mcnairy respected the DNA of the label sending bridal gowns and dresses that referenced both traditional and contemporary elements with the couture spirit incorporated via embroidery and beading.

Light and airy, the bride and the bridesmaids look ephemeral and dreamy, thus creating an aura of modern romanticism. Silhouettes are slim, the waist either tiny or empire; Antonio Gual and Lia Mcnairy love modern brides who follow the old saying,

“Something old, something new
Something borrowed, something blue
And a silver sixpence in her shoe.”
