NEW YORK, Jun 16, 2009 / FW/ — With the goal of revitalizing an existing infrastructure, Robert Hammond and Joshua David established the community-based ground Friends of the High Line with plans to turn the abandoned elevated freight railroad into an elevated park or greenway, similar to the Promenade Plantée in Paris.
Last June 9th, that dream became reality with the official opening of the first 9-block long section of the new New York City public park. And last night, Calvin Klein Collection presented the “First Party on the High Line” with High Line co-founders, Joshua David and Robert Hammond.
The event was held on the largest covered section of the elevated railway, located within the first section of the High Line of the public promenade (Gansevoort Street to 20th Street) and attended by the Who’s who of the fashion and entertainment industries together with the New York elilte.
For the evening, Calvin Klein Collection wardrobed Edward Norton, honoree at the earlier Friends of the High Line opening summer benefit, as well as, Bradley Cooper, Gerard Butler, Zoe Saldana, Carey Mulligan, Taylor Lautner, Tallulah Belle Willis, Jason Rogers, Hilary Rhoda, Jim Moore, Madeline Weeks, Alan Cumming, and model Edita Vilkeviciute.
Representing Calvin Klein Inc for the evening were: Italo Zucchelli – Calvin Klein Collection’s Men’s Creative Director, who was awarded the prestigious Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) 2009 Menswear Designer of the Year Award earlier that evening – as well as Francisco Costa, Calvin Klein Collection’s Women’s Creative Director; Tom Murry, President & CEO, Calvin Klein, Inc.; Kevin Carrigan, ck Calvin Klein & Calvin Klein Creative Director.
