DALLAS, Aug 12, 2009 / FW/ — Hemlines are being raised a few notches this season. Whether paired over tights, leggings, or a bare leg, this trend is something that should be embraced.

It immediately adds height to your appearance, and if worn correctly, has great potential to reflect high street fashion.

Balance must be taken into consideration when sporting this trend. The higher the hemline, the higher the neckline should come. Keeping proportion will restore elegance over promiscuity.

Mary Quant created the mini skirt in 1962. It was a mod decade where the focus came off of the bosom and onto the legs. This is where we first see the medley of pantyhose and a short hemline.

If this mode makes you hesitate, mimic Walter and Adam in implementing entirely opaque tights as a pant. Put a boyfriend blazer over a skirt that hits the same place on the leg.

Mini dresses and skirts are alive and well, how will you welcome it into your wardrobe?
