PARIS, Sep 3, 2009 / FW/ — Next month, during the Spring 2010 Paris season, an iconic name returns to high fashion, VIONNET, the legendary fashion house founded by Madeleine Vionnet, inventor of the bias cut.

Recently acquired by the Marzotto group and co-directed by Matteo Marzotto and Gianni Castiglioni, the VIONNET Spring Summer 2010 Ready-to-Wear collection designed by Rodolfo Paglialunga will début in Paris on October 2nd, 2009.

In this new incarnation of Vionnet, Matteo Marzotto “hopes to build a new VIONNET based on the extraordinary elegance and emblematic innovation of Madeleine Vionnet’s history; faithful to the European tradition of creating objects of beauty and nobility.

Since 2007, the legendary fashion house has been trying to stage a comeback, beginning with the appointment of Sophia Kokosalaki as Creative Director, who resigned from her post several months later to concentrate in her own label.

Kokosalaki was replaced immediately by Marc Audibet as Artistic Advisor, instead of the more traditional title of Creative Director who was hired May 2007.

But like Kokosalaki, Audibet stayed less than a year on the job. He created one collection for the house, Spring / Summer 2008, which was unveiled. The French designer announced his resignation in January 2008.

After a little over a year in hiatus, Vionnet is once again in the limelight when it was acquired by the Marzotto group. Karla Otto press office, one of the most influential PR houses in both sides of the Atlantic is has been retained by Marzotto to handle the publicity and promotion of the brand.
