DALLAS, Oct 20, 2009 / FW/ — It was not just the MLB pennant race that was exciting in Los Angeles last night. Zoe Saldana, star of Avatar and Star Trek received ‘Calvin Klein Collection Spotlight’ Award, which was presented to her by director, producer, and screenwriter J.J. Abrams.
It was a geek’s dream come true; recognition that “chic” and “geek” are not on the opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to fashion.
Geeks have to thank Francisco Costa, Creative Director of Calvin Klein Collection womenswear. Present at the event, and dressing Zoe Saldana for the evening, Costa just blessed geekdom with his fashion scepter.
It was not just Zoe Saldana who was wearing Calvin Klein Collection last night. Julianne Moore and casting director Bonnie Timmerman, who were also honorees for the 16th Annual ELLE Women in Hollywood Tribute, were also wardrobed by Calvin Klein Collection.
Robbie Myers, Editor in Chief, ELLE Magazine, and Carol Smith, SVP, Chief Brand Officer, ELLE Group, also wore Calvin Klein Collection. All of the women’s looks were designed by Francisco Costa, of course.
Held last night at the Four Seasons Beverly Hills Hotel in California, the Annual ELLE Women in Hollywood Tribute event honors Hollywood’s best and brightest talent in celebration of women’s achievements in film. This year’s tribute featured a diverse group of women who, through their achievements, have had a profound impact on the industry.
