Jean Paul Gaultier for Kylie Minogue - corset

PARIS, Oct 1, 2009 / FW/ — When Australian pop star Kylie Minogue hit the stage Wednesday night in Oakland, California, she brought a piece of Paris with her. The diminutive singer was wardrobed by Jean Paul Gaultier.

A metallic lamé bodysuit, a gold palette halter neckline long dress, a crepe/velvet/ satin corset bodysuit, a leather/ sequin dress with leather “jacket” panels and a white long trench coat dress among others, were all specially designed by the French couturier at his Gaultier Paris Atelier for Ms. Minogue.

Known for his groundbreaking looks, Jean Paul Gaultier always pushes the envelope when it comes to fashion. No stranger to show business, Gaultier has created Madonna’s wardrobe at least twice for her world tours, though this is the first time that the French couturier has wardrobed Kylie Minogue for a concert tour.

That Kylie Minogue’s concert tour dates fall in the month of October, the Breast Cancer Awareness month here in the U.S. might just be a coincidence yet it is empowering and uplifting for breast cancer survivors.

In 2005, Minogue was diagnosed with breast cancer, but she returned to performing after recovering from surgery and chemotherapy. In a world tour last year she visited more than 21 countries.
