NEW YORK, Sep 12, 2010 / FW/ — Adam Lippes credits the “spirit and style” of Charlotte Gainsbourg in the film, “The City of Your Final Destination,” as the source of his inspiration for the Spring 2011 collection.
Lippes successfully revives a distinctly feminine look through his use of delicate natural colors and fabrics. Classic lace blouses and tuxedo jackets in eyelet, lace, and chiffon were paired with harsh leather, heavy linen, and fishtail hems.
The contrast resulted in an exceptionally chic and refreshingly wearable collection. Chunky cropped knits and embellished sweatshirts held their staying power as quintessential pieces to the ADAM brand.
Whereas, a poppy red leather dress and black leather shorts were bold, Celine-esque pieces that stood out against the otherwise soft collection.
Typically casual, structured looks were brought to life through ornate embellishment, dramatic layers, and delicate fabrics that updated the classic looks with subtle twists. Standout pieces included an embroidered linen sheath dress, printed spaghetti-strap dresses (in white eyelet and lavender chiffon) with fishtail hems, and a boho chic macramé chiffon dress.
Lippes sought to capture the ease, refinement and simplicity of a self-assured girl in his Spring 2011 collection, and more than succeeds in doing so.
