PARIS, Jan 24, 2011 / FW/ — A house of fashion founded in 1881, Cerruti is one of the most classic brands. With a few changes lately, such as the end of its womenswear line, I was interested to see what this collection would be made of.

Definitely one of my favorites of the week for its adherence to the classics of men’s dressing, but also for its modern uses of fabrics and silhouettes.

The collection was full of gorgeous overcoats in supple tweeds and warm wools. The color palette was mostly neutrals, with a heavy emphasis on greys, blacks, and browns, but also with a pop of pink in the form of a dapper evening suit.

Some of the sportier pieces of the collection were jackets with applied pockets, drawstrings and snaps- very utilitarian- thin T-shirts layered under chunky knit sweaters, and even jeans. The modern elements such as skinny ties, furry headphones worn around the neck or slim beanies to top off an oversized coat and tailored pants, were young and showed the new direction of the brand.
