The brainchild of Norwegian-born Johan R., SWIMS was created out of necessity and the need to be fashionable! As Johan R. said, “Growing up with four distinct seasons in Norway, I never let go of the black rubber galoshes that my late grandfather passed on to me. In 1999 they accompanied me to a milder, but still rainy Paris. My footwear became the subject of many jokes around the art school I attended.”
Moving to New York later on, Johan R. found Manhattan winters also very hard on his footwear. Living in an image-conscious culture that defied slushy streets, freezing winds and pouring rain, Johan ruined many pairs of shoes.
Since necessity is the mother of invention, Johan took matters into his own hands and developed SWIMS – The Modern Galosh!

A bowling shoe style, which normally possesses an intermediate style between regular dressing shoes and the athletic type. A fusion of the simplicity of a bowling shoe upper build on a hiking sole construction.

The Swims Classic allows you to wear your favorite shoes regardless of weather conditions, while also providing a classy look. Slip’em on before walking wet or muddy streets and slip’em off when you arrive. Enhanced comfort is assured and your shoes will stay shiny and clean.
SWIMS have developed a soft and gentle inner lining that cares for, and even polishes, the leather in the wearer’s shoes. The lining creates a pocket of air in between the rubber and the leather, and allows for damp and perspiration to move out. In addition Swims have developed a unique rubber compound that ensures great elasticity and tear resistance. Waterproof

Built on the same rubber foundation as the Classic with the same attributes, but with a warm neoprene, waterproof high top. Waterproof zip closure.

The Classic Premium bare the same attributes as the Classic, but is designed with a sewed on leather puller. The combination of leather and the SWIMS rubber gives the product an unexpected and exclusive feel. The leather is treated with a water resistant process.
