Miami, July 21, 2012/ FW/ — Entitled ‘Call of the Whale’, the theme for the Lisa Blue Spring 2013 collection is the beauty and calmness of whales, the gentle giants of the ocean. The designer, Lisa Burke, has always been inspired by whales, as well as dolphins, and therefore, in her efforts to help save them, Burke donates 25 percent of her profits to the Australian Whale Conservation Society.
There were five different collections within the Lisa Blue Spring 2013 collection including: the Enchantress, Orchid Flower, Cover Girl, Flamingo, and the Dragon collection.
The Enchantress collection evokes the sense of romance featuring unique, ethereal like ensembles bringing out the goddess within the one who wears the garment. Collection looks include modern and wearable pieces with Grecian style cuts that are made of premium quality and Italian silky lycra, as well as looks with loose, flowing sleeves with delicate trims made of soft starlight fabric. Hues in the collection consisted of bright whites with soft metallic gold and sky blue, which are subtle shades that effectively highlight a woman’s form.
The Orchid Flower collection contains looks inspired by the delicate, exotic, and graceful orchid that is said to represent love, luxury, beauty, and strength.This collection features swimwear styles that are suitable for all types of women, including a 1950’s inspired underwire balconette top and a frilled skirtini that is perfect for vintage enthusiasts. Hues in the collection consist of the fuchsia colored orchid that is complimented by a lush array of bright colored flowers.
The Cover Girl collection evokes a quirky and yet feminine tone, featuring fresh, fun, and vibrant styles that give a different take on the denim look. The inspiration for this collection evolved from the designer’s passion of horseback riding, as well as her view as the horse serving as a symbol of freedom and female power. Collection looks include a lush, bright denim print mixed with a pretty lace trim subtly reflecting the cow girl theme, with the addition of the red and white star print that works to create the perfect alchemy for a sizzling hot swimsuit. This collection contains looks with a wide variety of cuts ranging from conservative to playfully stylish, as well as including vintage shapes that appeal to all types of women.
The Flamingo collection evokes the essence of the flamingo bird, that has been known to represent beauty and balance. The graceful and feminine looks feature lush Flamingo prints that depict the silhouette of the birds, including one with a back drop of a glorious ruby red sunset and the other with various shades of blues from the ocean and sky. Also, grand flamenco frills serve to create elegant bikinis and one pieces. The collection shows a variety of frilled dresses with delicately embroidered flamingo birds from loose fitting to sleek and sexy, making the looks suitable for any type of figure.
The Dragon collection evokes a sense of mystique and harmony featuring pieces that reflect this year’s Chinese astrology symbol, ‘The Year of the Dragon.’ The designer was inspired by ‘The Year of the Dragon’ because the dragon is said to symbolize strength, raw power, courage, and protection. Using an array of lustrous colors and fun shapes and textures, the Dragon collection displays the mix and match of two prints such as the vibrant, incandescent Dragon tile print that harmonizes perfectly with the luminescent, fuchsia dragon that is set on a pretty, plum purple background. Also, to add sparkle and glamour to the radiant Dragon print pieces, quality gold rings embellish some of the swimsuits in the collection.
