NEW YORK, Oct 29, 2012/ FW/ — Entitled ‘Contemporary Surrealism’, the designer of Milly, Michelle Smith was inspired by the concept of surrealism for her Spring/Summer 2013 collection.

"Milly Spring/Summer 2013"

The Milly Spring/Summer 2013 collection evokes the designer’s theme of contemporary surrealism through Smith’s use of unexpected combinations of technical fabrics, couture finishes, and dream-like photorealistic prints that play with the eye and create a sense of dimension and illusion in the collection’s looks.

Collection hues include a base palette of optic white and black that are highlighted by vibrant colors of citron, lapis, mentino, and neon coral.

Fabrics in the collection consist of millefeuille chiffon, reflective sport taffeta, and laser-cut leather that add texture and depth to the modern surrealism inspired collection.

Standout pieces in the collection include power-stretch dresses featuring oversized mesh and reflective tape accents, a silver python printed leather pencil skirt, a diaphanous, digital smoke-print dress, and a silk faille couture ivy-print dress with printed tulle mesh overlay that evokes an essence of waves and movement.
