Lenny Kravitz is the protagonist of Saint Laurent’s latest FW20 campaign and has chosen an unexpected face.
The American singer-songwriter, an icon since the 1990s, was pictured with two looks from the latest collection by photographer David Sims under the creative direction of Anthony Vaccarello.
Saint Laurent has shown interest in musicians since its Hedi Slimane era. Among the faces who have posed for the brand’s advertising campaigns are the likes of Marilyn Manson and Courtney Love, while Yves Saint Laurent himself dressed Grace Jones and in 1971 took care of the wedding dresses of Mick and Bianca Jagger. But the rock attitude of the brand is evident especially in its collections: with skinny jeans, total black and shirts and denim waistcoats, Lenny Kravitz perfectly represents the aesthetic of Saint Laurent.
For the American singer-songwriter, who recently released the new single Ride, this is the first advertising campaign for a big fashion brand. For Saint Laurent, however, this is not the first collaboration with a member of the Kravitz family: the daughter of Lenny and Lisa Bonet, Zoe Kravitz has already posed for four advertising campaigns of the brand, two of which were taken by the same photographer who immortalized his father.
