PARIS, Jan 29, 2005 (Updated Jan 24, 2009) / FW/ — The brainchild of Takahiro Miyashitashi, Number (N)ine is well known for its rock & roll inspired silhouettes that made Stetson hats and flannel become the new classics.
Low key, almost subdued, Takahiro Miyashitashi vision is anathema to the bigger than life personas like Kurt Cobain and Brian Jones from whom he had drawn inspiration. Yet, this clashes of the opposites – the western cowboy becoming a grunge star, the rock star becoming the perfect Victorian gentleman – is the reason why Number (N)ine is unique. Under Takahiro Miyashitashi perfect tailoring executions, giving modern rebellious twists to classic themes, Number (N)ine has become a fashion forward label that is also the voice of a new generation. While clothing continues to be its main line, Number (N)ine has also been very successful with the launch of several accessories lines – arm bands, hats, sunglasses, chains and keychains. It has also collaborated with Vans for sneakers. U.S. Location [MARI DAVIS] |
