NEW YORK, Jan 30, 2008 / — Man’s best friend is going to Mardi Gras, St. Louis’ style! 8,000 pets will attend and participate the 15th Beggin’ Strips Barkus Pet Parade to be held at St. Louis’ very own French Quarter. With an expected attendance of 80,000, all dressed in Mardi Gras-inspired costume, this is one of the biggest pet parades in the world.
As part of the celebration, the canines will be competing for the titles of ‘King’ and ‘Queen’ of the parade. The ‘Most Loyal Subjects’ award is also up for grabs. Herds of dachshunds, packs of pugs and troops of terriers will show off collaborative efforts for this brand new group title.
In the end, every pet walks away a winner. All parade registration fees benefit homeless animals at a local no-kill animal shelter.
