DALLAS, Jul 8, 2008 / FW/ — Just in time for Back-to-School, the Richard Chai for Target Collection hits stores to be perfect additions to the young woman’s wardrobe. Young and spirited, high school girls and college coeds will find the structured dresses, jersey draped tees, twill shorts, skinny denim trousers and exposed front-zipper mini skirts as must-have wardrobe essentials for the start of the school year.

As announced last month, Richard Chai collaborates with Target with the trendy retailer’s GO International program, an innovative program designed to provide affordable fashion created by world-renowned designers.

The limited-edition collection designed by Richard Chai will be available at most Target stores and on www.target.com/gointernational beginning August 3, 2008 through August 30, 2008.

Known for his minimalist aesthetic, Richard Chai’s fine-tuned sensibility and penchant for clean lines in his modern, sophisticated and quietly feminine clothing had garnered him fans among the international fashion set including one of the 2005 Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation Award, one of the most prestigious fashion grants in the industry.

A graduate of Parsons School of Design in New York and Lissa School in Paris, Richard Chai honed his design skills at Geoffrey Beene, Donna Karan, Marc Jacobs and Lanvin before becoming the Creative Director of TSE for its womenswear, menswear and TSE Say lines.

In 2004, Chai launched his eponymous label and received rave reviews from fashion critics making him a ‘name to watch’ in the New York fashion scene during his freshman season. Utilizing old-world techniques of construction and innovative tailoring, Chai set himself apart from his contemporaries.

“Richard Chai has created a sophisticated and contemporary collection for Target,” said Trish Adams, senior vice president, Target. “Richard’s keen eye for detail and design aesthetic translates beautifully into a dynamic, well-tailored collection that is chic, wearable and that women across the country will love.”

The Richard Chai for Target collection offers an assortment of exquisitely tailored separates and chic dresses. Graffiti rose prints and paintbrush stripes are splashed across satin dresses, georgette skirts and jersey tanks, while fine finishing and classic tailoring are displayed in the jeweled woven patchwork blouse and sateen sweetheart dresses.

With prices ranging from $12.99 to $79.99 there will be no reason to pass up on the leather vest, color-block front-tie dresses, graffiti rose-printed cotton sundress, plaid trench coat and satin tuxedo racerback dresses.
