Veronique Branquinho Menswear Fall 2009

PARIS, Jan 24, 2009 / FW/ — One of the two women who unveiled their menswear collections on the first day of the Paris season, Véronique Branquinho took sobriety in fashion seriously as she dressed the men the way the ‘Real Housewives of (Name the Place) would dress up their husband and child.

Two-button and one-button suit jackets, quilted blousons, V-neck pullovers and turtleneck shirts is how the Belgian designer envisions Fall 2009 / Winter 2010. Definitely commercially viable and would surely sell when they hit store shelves when September rolls around.

Consumers are buying for ‘keeps’ nowadays. Disposable chic went out the window when recession hit. Hence, this decision by Veroninque Branquinho to be ‘safe and classic’ is understandable. It’s just that I have always liked Véronique Branquinho’s alternative view on fashion. And, somehow, seeing a safe collection from her is disappointing.
