MADRID, Feb 23, 2009 / FW/ — Innocent looking prints and knits on grown up “boys” who need to cuddle in their sleep or perhaps they never outgrew the use of pajamas, Marta Montoto placed a sexual connotation in this otherwise ‘harmless’ PJs. They are not little boys anymore, after all.
Whether it was for sexuality or for fun, or just another vision of fashion, Marta Montoto’s Fall 2009 collection is reminiscent of Walter van Beirendonck’s work, hence it is hard not compare.
While the Belgian designer has an edge with a sado-masochism twist in his high-concept yet highly sexual collections, Marta Montoto is a little bit more timid, thus tempering the sexual energy that should have been created.
