DALLAS, Feb 7, 2009 / FW/ — Australian designer Toni Maticevski had been named 2008 Fashion Designer of the Year by the International Design Awards, an organization that recognizes, celebrates and promotes legendary design visionaries and to uncover emerging talent in architecture and interior, fashion, product, graphic and fashion design.

Split into 5 divisions – Architecture, Interior, Fashion, Product and Graphic, Toni Maticevski entered the Fashion competition under Women’s Haute Couture category. Aside from women’s haute couture, competitions for Accessories, Textile and Materials, Prêt-a-Porter, Avant- Garde, Lingerie/Intimates and Sportswear were also held under their specific categories.

Maticevski has to win women’s haute couture, and then beat out the winners in the other categories in fashion to be named Fashion Designer of the Year.

For being named IDA’s Fashion Designer of the Year, Toni Maticevski will receive publication of his/her work in the 2008 International Design Awards art book, to be distributed to museum bookstores nationwide; promotion in an newsletter to 100,000 design professionals and potential clients worldwide; year-long coverage on the International Design Awards website; and critical acclaim by the distinguished panel of judges.
