Jean Charles de Castelbajac Fall 2009

PARIS, Mar 13, 2009 / FW/ — With the models were tossing and scattering U.S. dollar bills with Barack Obama’s photo during the show’s finale, JC de Castelbajac once again lived up to expectations as one of the most fun shows in Paris.

Always with a tongue-in-cheek attitude towards fashion, wherein he puts the current zeitgeist into clothing, Castelbajac chose Marilyn Monroe’s red lips and half-opened mouth as backdrop and a band playing live as background music.

Sending sheered bias cut miniskirts paired with a blouse made of plush toys, which surprisingly is very wearable, the French designer let the fun begin. Suits, dresses, raincoats and winter coats in ‘camouflage’ yellow and brown wherein the prints are actually teddy bears (go figure!) paraded on the runway to the delight of the audience.

An interesting exit – a fur coat was literally wrapped in plastic, i.e. the fur and the plastic were sewn together, thus making the fur coat also a raincoat!

Sweater dresses in different permutations, suits and tees saying ‘kisses’ and I heart French, it was pop culture galore at JC de Castelbajac. And you know what? We loved it!
