NEW YORK, May 13, 2009 / FW/ — Have your hats and tea dresses ready! Britain’s Prince Harry, during his first ever formal visit to the U.S. is saddling up for the Second Annual Veuve Clicquot Manhattan Polo Classic to be held on Saturday, May 30th at New York’s Governors Island.

Coinciding with the 400th anniversary of New York and opening day of the Governors Island season, the Veuve Clicquot Manhattan Polo Classic will feature Prince Harry playing on the team captained by world renowned Argentine polo player Nick Roldan playing against Black Watch Polo Team captained by Nacho Figueras, who incidentally the new face of Ralph Lauren’s Polo Fragrances.

The event will feature areas that are both open to the public at no charge as well as those that will require tickets. In reverence to the long-time polo tradition, VIP guests will be asked to wear traditional polo style: women in hats; men in summer suits.

There will also be an afternoon tea by the iconic St. Regis New York wherein Sandro Micheli, Executive Pastry Chef at Adour Alain Ducasse created a special menu for the occasion.

Proceeds from the event will benefit American Friends of Sentebale, a U.S.-based charity that supports at-risk children in Lesotho, Africa. Sentebale was co-founded by HRH Prince Henry of Wales and HRH Prince Seeiso Bereng Seeiso of Lesotho in honor of their mothers, Diana, Princess of Wales and Queen ‘Mamohato, respectively.
