Gianfranco Ferre Menswear Spring 2010

MILAN, Jun 21, 2009 / FW/ — What a difference does six months make! After a triumphant debut last January with their decisive cuts and elongated silhouettes, this time around, Co-Creative Directors Tommaso Aquilano and Roberto Rimondi went for soft rounded shapes.

Oh, yes, the slim lines are still there as seen in the pencil thin leather trousers and the neoprene jackets. Unfortunately, it became a little bit confusing because first, it was a rock star trying to come out; then, jumpsuits and Bermuda shorts suits followed and alas, it was Prince Harry doing his best bad boy act on the runway.

It’s not to say that the collection is not good. It is actually very wearable and many Gianfranco Ferré fans will be willing to add these pieces in their wardrobe. After all, somber dressing is in.

But, perhaps it was too somber to the point that the piazzas and excitement that Tommaso Aquilano and Roberto Rimondi brought last season seem nowhere to be found.
