Milano Moda Uomo Spring 2010: MacGyver and McDreamy
Dates: Jun 20 – 23, 2009
|DALLAS, Jun 13, 2009 / FW/ — MacGyver and McDreamy are two fictional characters in American television that are from two different genres that seem to be a favorite by the viewing audience.
McDreamy is Dr. Derek Shepherd (played by Patrick Dempsey) at ABC’s ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ that has been on the air since 2005 and had been picked up by the network for a sixth season.
MacGyver was on the air for 7 seasons (1985 – 1992). With Richard Dean Anderson playing the starring role of Angus MacGyver who was a secret agent trained as a scientist, the character was written as an operative who abhors violence and favored brain over brawn in order to solve desperate problems.
Both fictional men are part of pop culture. McDreamy had been defined as the epitome of charming, devilishly handsome and the kind of guy a girl goes to sleep dreaming about. He makes you sigh, he makes you swoon, but he is so cavalier with your heart!
MacGyver’s main asset is his practical application of scientific knowledge and inventive use of common items—along with his ever-present Swiss Army knife. But, alas, MacGyver remained single during the whole series.
Maria Rombug (played by Brigitte Sternberg) was cast as a prospective love interest for MacGyver. Yet, our hero remained elusive and became one of the most eligible bachelors in the world of fiction.
McDreamy and MacGyver are very different from each other, but I am choosing them as the two men that will dominate the Spring 2010 silhouettes the same way that I chose Cloud Strife as the focal point of my discourse during the Fall 2009 season.
For McDreamy, I see Don Juan and Casanova, their costumes translated for today’s wardrobe. It’s about attitude. We fall head over heels with McDreamy with his gorgeous suits and citified clothes.
For MacGyver, it’s about being practical and resourceful. Classic tailoring on futuristic fabric that is also sustainable! Inventive and imaginative.
