DALLAS, Aug 16, 2009 / FW/ — The belt still remains from past seasons as being an essential to synching the waist, but this season there are new approaches to wearing this accessory.

We are used to seeing them over dresses and tops to create a desired silhouette. For fall, they are seen as a final piece over layers of cardigans and heavy coats over tops and dresses.

Skinny belts walked consistently down the runway this season, while wide belts were almost absent except for the occasional one in Miss Sixty and J Mendel.

This accessory is perfect for unifying layers. Wear it to create curves, accentuate the waistline, and use it split up busy patterns.

This should be a necessity in your wardrobe. A closet should never lack a belt; it has transforming power.
