Yigal Azrouel Spring 2010NEW YORK, Sep 11, 2009 / FW/ — The Spring/Summer 2010 collection by Yigal Azrouel was characterized by asymmetry and curve-hugging pieces that delivered an urban, edgy look.

Most of the color palette was in muted tones like grey, neutral, and black, with the occasional bright orange or yellow.

Yigal’s women’s wear was on trend this season with its use of crop tops paired with high waist skirts and shorts, also he paired androgynous blazers with form-fitting, sexy dresses and bandage skirts.

Trademark details like asymmetrical cut outs and contrasting colors gave his collection a refreshing edge. Also on trend was his decision to slightly roll the cuff of pants and shorts, on both men and women, which creates shape around the ankle while creating volume around the hip.

One of my favorite pieces was a leather jacket worn with such cuffed pants. The jacket, which was drapey and supple with a removable cargo pocket in the front had been attached by a boldly exposed zipper.

This was a well-designed and well-executed collection from a designer who continues to impress us with his innovation.
