A very old city even by European standards, Glasgow today is as modern as the 21st century yet it still manages to keep its old world charm, some of which dates back to the 6th century.

And, like all of the big cities today, Glasgow was not left untouched by the global credit crunch, hence for the Holiday 2009 season, some of Glasgow’s leading retailers have joined forces with the public sector in an unprecedented campaign to promote the city centre attractions, events and shopping during the crucial Christmas trading period.

Under the creative theme ‘Christmas all wrapped up’, the campaign, which started November 14th on television and radio, highlights the city centre’s comprehensive and compact offer – made all the more special at this time of year by a feast of festive events.

The call to action throughout the campaign is visit www.seeglasgow.com  which offers the city’s most comprehensive online shopping guide, featuring up to date information on everything from store openings and events to Christmas gift ideas and Glasgow Originals – those unique and wonderful things that are today’s true signature of Glasgow style.

Last Dec 11, Glasgow’s style mile was ‘unwrapped’ for Christmas, heralding the start of the 2009 festivities.

Glasgow City Marketing Bureau (GCMB) has joined forces with the city’s major retailers on the style mile and other key partners to ensure that the city’s shopping crown shines brighter than ever this festive season through the ‘Christmas Wrapped Up’ campaign.
