cop15 fashionDALLAS & COPENHAGEN, Dec 5, 2009 / FW/ — The COP15 Copenhagen United Nations Climate Change Conference is an unlikely place to hold a runway show, but they did as the Danish fashion industry made a green statement on the catwalk.

Entitled “Innovating Sustainable Fashion” the fashion show was organized by Center for Responsible Design in cooperation with Copenhagen Fashion Fairs, in order to support sustainable fashion in the lead-up to COP15.

One of the designers who showed was Karin Eggert Hansen, a student at the Danish Design School. Her collection is made out of the material Recycled PET, which is made from 100 pct. recycled plastic bottles.

“I wanted to make rainwear that is functional, yet cool, and of course sustainable” said Karin Eggert Hansen.

19 collections were shown, all of them handpicked from more than 60 entries to the sustainable design competition. All designs are exhibited at the Danish Design Center from December 8 until January 31.
