bebas_closetF1020MADRID, Feb 18, 2010 / — Entitled “Carte de tendre”, the Fall 2010 Beba’s Closet collection is made up of 20 pieces divided into three acts. All are exceptional items created with the haute couture spirit that has defined the work of Belén Barbero, the designer behind the label, from the very beginning.

Some of the models are unique pieces which include antique details which have been recovered. The rest are limited series: some include hand-crafted embroidery and others were created using vintage fabrics.

1st ACT:
A dream… a memory that is washed away… silence… Recovered lace and gauzes; rescuing our traditions, recovering pieces that have stories to tell.

2nd ACT:
Another person’s glance… mirror… desire… longing… Organdie, pleats and layers. Sculpting on the body through modelling, giving shape to ideas.

3rd ACT
Night falls… rendez-vous… the abyss… Hand-crafted embroidery and vintage lamé. Recovering the magic of the needle, the shine of the past.

Belén Barbero began her career in the world of fashion eight years ago, when she decided to leave behind her career as an economist to pursue her dream: setting up a fashion studio “like in the old days.”

She studied at the Istituto Europeo di Design with professors of the stature of Isabel Berz, Oscar Scopa and Iván Soldo. In her last year of study, she won first prize for the best collection, awarded by the firm Burberry.

Before creating her own brand, she worked as a freelance designer for firms such as Don Algodón, Woman’s Secret and Springfield. She opened the doors of her studio-boutique in 2006. Beba’s
Closet soon became one of the best-kept secrets in the capital. Up to now, at her studio Beba has exclusively been offering haute couture garments: unique, unrepeatable pieces that in many cases include antique pieces which she has recovered.

Beba’s Closet was created with the calling to recover the tradition of tailoring to build an identity of its own through innovation and care for detail. Beba’s Closet is… passion for the unique… it is soul… it is creation…observation… attitude… seeking… it is tradition and innovation…inspiration… curiosity… change… it is authenticity…
