NEW YORK, Feb 7, 2010 / — Launched in 2007, Suwha is relatively a new label but has already garnered critical acclaim and been featured in British Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Teen Vogue and Nylon, among others.
The brainchild of lawyer-turned-designer Suwha Hong, the label Suwha caters to the woman who aspires to be adventurous, curious, thoughtful and stylish. Hence choosing the late Jackie O as the muse for Spring 2010 is not surprising.
Entitled “Bon Voyage”, Jackie O’s effortless glamour and timeless chic dominates. The collection consists of jackets, hats and dresses in clean, classic silhouettes rendered unique by circle meets triangle combination collars, playful geometric gold brocade patterns, knot-buckle accent belts and exaggerated proportions.
The print for this season is a whimsical sunset gold ship pattern on ivory balanced off with navy as seen in the elegant lightweight evening coats.
The collection also presents an array of versatile jackets which can go from day to evening – the modified tuxedo jacket with an elongated back, the short sleeve shimmering gold brocade jacket, the antique gold leather jacket with cropped sleeves.
The hats are made from hoods hand woven in Ecuador by village artisans using techniques handed down through generations.
