NEW YORK, Mar 25, 2010 / FW/ — Launching MDLR for MANGO, a collection of limited edition t-shirts he designed exclusively for the Spanish retail giant MANGO, young designer Moises de la Renta entered the international fashion scene and by doing so, he is also following the footsteps of his father, Oscar de la Renta.

Born in La Romana (Dominican Republic), Moises de la Renta grew up in Connecticut, where he learned to love nature. Moises has inherited his father’s innate sense of elegance. His style, a blend of New York chic and cool, is attenuated with a rock & roll sensibility, giving the young designer his own personal creative interpretation.

At just 25, he can already boast that Michelle Obama has worn one of his dresses, specifically one from his Fall 2009 collection.

For MANGO, Moises de la Renta designed a capsule collection of eight t-shirts, which reinterpret themselves in various ways: embellished with jewels, precious stones and tulle, giving it a customized deluxe feel.

Graphic illustrations are also used by employing heraldic symbols combined with transparencies and patchwork effects. MDLR for MANGO will go on sale at MANGO stores and at www.Mangoshop.com in April.

“My inspiration for this collection was the traditional romantic themes: from pretty patchworks with summer flowers in somber colors, such as rose, violet, grey and black, to graphic illusions which combine transparent effects, with shiny gems and adornments in between,” says Moises about his collection.

The launch took place at the Crosby Street Hotel, which has just opened its doors in the heart of SoHo. The event was attended by model and singer, Sophie Auster, daughter of famous writer Paul Auster, as well as one of the young models who has lent her image for the brand’s catalogue this season.
