MUNICH, Apr15, 2010 / FW/ — Famed for being a fashion designer and a judge of the hit reality series “Project Runway”, Michael Kors expands his business in Europe with the opening of the new retail flagship located in Munich, Germany.

This is the first freestanding lifestyle store for the Company in Europe. This European flagship, located at Theatinerstrasse, 36 closely follows the lifestyle store concept established throughout the Company’s 60 lifestyle stores in North America.

The 500 square meter boutique has a strong focus on accessories including handbags, small leather goods, footwear, eyewear, watches and fragrance. Both the MICHAEL Michael Kors and Michael Kors Collection lines are strongly represented, as well as the addition of KORS Michael Kors footwear. The store is also the first point of sale for the highly acclaimed MICHAEL Michael Kors ready to wear collection in Europe.

Michael Kors stated, “I spend a great deal of time in Europe and meet so many women who are fans…it’s great to have all of my accessory Collections under one roof for them to see…I look forward to continued growth throughout Europe”.

John D. Idol, CEO of Michael Kors, Inc. added, “We have seen great success with our retail locations throughout North America; Europe is the next logical step in our global expansion, and we have exceeded all expectations in Munich since opening this past March”.

The Michael Kors boutique reflects the same chic, luxurious aesthetic found in the designer’s other retail locations; white ceramic floors, lacquer walls, high polish stainless steel and Lucite are all materials used throughout the store. While much of the furniture is custom made, vintage pieces include chairs by Milo Baughman reupholstered in zebra stenciled cavallino and a coffee table by Ward Bennet in arabesco marble.
