PARIS, Jan 25, 2011 / FW/ — This season, Wooyoungmi presented a collection that melded luxury and practicality in a convincing way.

Contrasting the richness of the fabrication, elements of outdoor endurance and utility were often used. Drawstrings on jackets to cinch the waist, waterproof zippers, elasticized cuffs, synthetic fabrics to protect from the elements, all done in a stately manor.

The classic combinations of pants and jackets were avoided in this collection, and instead we saw softly tailored trousers with urbane jackets, waterproof slacks worn elegantly for evening. Knitwear in the collection was textured and provided movement, a nod to that which is found in nature, and emphasized by a double yarn, two-tone effect.

In a collection that combined couture sequins effortlessly alongside oversized outerwear and rubberized boots, style and function reigned equally.
