Based in and inspired by New York City, the Timo Weiland collection reflects Timo, Alan, and Donna’s personal aesthetic sensibilities and a broader desire to return to the art of dressing. With their first debut of their men’s and women’s ready-to-wear collection for Spring-Summer 2010, the Timo Weiland collection firmly established their romantic, yet modern edge to dandy downtown dressing.

As a recipient of the 2014 Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation award alongside the brands, Degen and Novis, Timo Weiland will receive a $25,000 grant to help showcase their style on the runway during New York’s Fall 2014 Fashion Week.

Now in its 13th season, the Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation has awarded $1.8 million in support of emerging designers, and helped to launch the careers of many of today’s best and brightest fashion stars, including Zac Posen, Derek Lam, Proenza Schouler, Rodarte, Alexander Wang, Joseph Altuzarra and Prabal Gurung.

“Through the Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation, we are able to support talented fashion designers who are committed to celebrating style every day,” said Courtney O’Brien, Director of Marketing for Ecco Domani Wines of Italy.

Fashion Windows editor Darby Radcliff catches up with the designers, Timo Weiland, Alan Eckstein, and Donna Kang to discuss the inspiration behind the Timo Weiland brand.

What inspires you as designers?

Alan, Donna, and Timo are inspired by the people around them, their great circle of friends and collaborators in New York City. The city itself is an ongoing source of inspiration as well.

After being selected as the 2014 winner of the Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation award, what’s next for your brand?

More work! Several collaborations are in the works and business partnerships that will be catalysts in taking the TW brand to the next level this year.
