DALLAS, Nov 12, 2008 / FW/ — Fifty years ago, Lilly Pulitzer designed a shift dress to hide fruit juice stains. From that original shift dress, the Lilly Pulitzer label grew into today’s classic American lifestyle brand that provides apparel and sleepwear for women, apparel for children and men, accessories including eyewear, shoes, handbags, jewelry, belts, fragrance, stationery and gifts, and two entertaining books, all inspired by the authentic Palm Beach lifestyle.
Celebrating its golden jubilee this year. Lilly Pulitzer kicks off a year-long celebration in an honorary tribute through a historical fashion and lifestyle Jubilee Retrospective which was unveiled for the first time this November in New York City at Parsons The New School For Design.
Presented in a series of tableaux, the retrospective showcases Lilly Pulitzer’s wildly creative prints, iconic silhouettes and longstanding influence on American fashion design. The extensive display of vintage garments is complemented by archival photographs from the likes of Slim Aarons, widely known for his images that capture the lifestyles of the rich and famous, Howell Conant and Betty Kuhner.
A video installation showcases the spirit of the brand and features stories and photographs of loyal Lilly Lovers(TM) across the country including Jackie Kennedy, Claudia Schiffer and Brooke Shields.
The Jubilee Retrospective will journey around the country to over 100 Lilly-loving markets from coast to coast including cities such as Palm Beach, Los Angeles, Dallas, Chicago and Philadelphia.
The brand will also be honoring 50 years of colorful life with limited-edition Jubilee product capsule collections offered in the Resort 2008, Spring 2009 and Summer 2009 collections. Including unique pieces with elevated, embellished details and sophisticated; yet whimsical prints the collections give Lilly Lovers(TM) another reason to celebrate.
